Orange Coast Magazine: Rooms We Love

Drawing inspiration from the exterior of her Spanish colonial home, Orange County Interior Designer Olga Doykhen integrated woodwork and black window frames, and balanced those elements with modern furniture and lighting. “The goal was to create a space my daughter could grow into,” Doykhen says.

“When she walked into the room … she kept saying ‘Wow, wow!’ I think she’s my biggest little fan.” To create a similar aesthetic, Doykhen suggests choosing one standout element, such as a chair or fixture, and keeping the rest of the space toned down with a variety of textures rather than multiple colors.

CHAIR AND STOOL
“I love how they are visually striking, organic, and also playful yet sophisticated.”

SIDE TABLES
“I was drawn to their sculptural design and craftsmanship. They feel like works of art but are still highly functional pieces.”

COUCH
“I love how the so , quilted cushions give it a cozy, laid-back feel, while the structured frame keeps it sleek and modern.”

CHANDELIER
“I chose this for its delicate, sculptural quality. Each piece of blown glass almost looks like a floating cloud.”

CURTAINS
“(These are) custom made based on my sketches. It was a complicated task … but we figured it out!”

COFFEE TABLE
“I love this table for its organic shape—hence no corners to hit. It also grounds this space with solidness and clean lines.”
